I have lived in La Fortuna for over 20 years and it wasn’t up until last year I took the time to visit El Choyin. It had always gotten bad raps for being dangerous and unsightly, but our local community has done a better job to keep it safe and friendly to tourists. It’s very rustic and a bit tricky to get to the natural hot springs river, but you can usually find a nice quiet spot and hang out and allow the calming thermal waters flow over you while surrounded by the rainforest at the base of the Arenal Volacano.
